FLAG OF HONOUR, the Gr.1 Classic winning son of GALILEO has been retired has been retired from racing and will take up stud duties at the National Stud in Newmarket as a dual-purpose prospect.

A tough and consistent stayer, FLAG OF HONOUR won or was placed at Group level on 9 occasions throughout his career. He proved a very talented two-year old for the Ballydoyle team when winning a maiden in eye-catching style before capping off his juvenile career with victory in the Gr.3 Eyrefield Stakes at the Curragh.

FLAG OF HONOUR progressed to a high-class three-year old and cemented himself as an exciting Classic prospect when defeating the older horses in the Gr.2 Curragh Cup before victory in the Gr.3 Irish St. Leger Trial.

His crowning moment came the Classic Gr. 1 Irish St. Leger when after a tenacious front running effort, he extended from the field to win in impressive fashion from Gr.1 Irish Derby hero, LATROBE and achieving a Timeform rating of 122.

As a four-year old FLAG OF HONOUR demonstrated his class once again by only meeting MAGICAL in defeat on three separate occasions, including in the Gr.1 Tattersalls Gold Cup.

In his illustrious career FLAG OF HONOUR won at Group level on four occasions, defeating 25 individual Group winners including the Gr.1 Classic winners LATROBE, CAPRI and OLMEDO.

His trainer Aidan O’Brien, who has always held FLAG OF HONOUR the highest of regards stated “FLAG OF HONOUR was a very tough and genuine horse that handled all types of ground.”

Out of the winning mare HAWALA, FLAG OF HONOUR is a half-brother to numerous leading performers including the Gr.3 winning and Gr.1 placed sprinter AIR CHIEF MARSHALL, Gr.1 Irish 2000 Guineas runner-up FOXTROT ROMEO and the multiple stakes winning and Group placed horses SLIP DANCE and MISU BOND.
