ADVERTISE (16.1hh, 2016 Showcasing ex Furbelow, by Pivotal)
2021 Stud Fee: £25,000 (1st October SLF)
- Exceptional first book of mares featured 67 Black Type performers / producers, including the dams of Group 1 winners ACLAIM, MAAREK and DICK WHITTINGTON, and a half-sister to record breaking sprinter BATTAASH
Retired to the National Stud in 2020, Advertise is one of the most exciting recruits to the British stallion ranks in years.
The attractive bay showed outstanding form over two seasons for trainer Martyn Meade. As a juvenile he landed the July Stakes and National Stakes and found only Calyx too good in the Coventry Stakes. He also finished a gallant second to Too Darn Hot in the Dewhurst at the end of the campaign, one place ahead of Anthony Van Dyck.
At three he scored in the Commonwealth Cup by clear water before running second in the July Cup and then returning to winning ways in a high-class renewal of the Prix Maurice de Gheest. Group 1 winners Brando, One Master, Polydream, Pretty Pollyanna and Space Blues were among the rivals left trailing in his wake on that memorable day in Deauville.
Advertise’s racecourse heroics were another feather in the cap of his brilliant sire Showcasing, who supplied a new superstar in 2020 in the shape of thrilling Sussex Stakes winner Mohaather.
They also delivered further proof of Pivotal’s great importance as a broodmare sire. Another of the stalwart’s maternal grandsons, Mayson, was on the mark with July Cup victor Oxted in the past 12 months.
Advertise was in fact bred by Pivotal’s custodians, Cheveley Park Stud, out of Furbelow, a winning full-sister to Listed scorer Red Diadem. Furbelow is in turn out of Red Tiara, a daughter of the legendary Mr Prospector and dual 1,000 Guineas runner-up Heart Of Joy.
Equipped with such an impressive race record and pedigree, Advertise was duly supported by many of Europe’s leading breeders with some choice mares in his first season as a stallion. Among the 138 he covered were 40 black-type performers and 27 black-type producers, including the dams of Group 1 winners Aclaim, Dick Whittington and Maarek.
You could say that Advertise is proving well named. Blessed with so many admirable qualities, he has marketed himself to mare owners.
“We have had success with SHOWCASING before and ADVERTISE was by far his best son so it was natural for us to use him. He is a strong horse, full of quality and with a good walk. He is an exciting prospect.” – Nicolas de Chambure, Haras d’Etreham
“ADVERTISE has all the attributes we look for in a stallion. An imposing son of SHOWCASING, he was a Gr.1 winner at two who trained on to be a dual Gr.1 winner at three. He was precocious, tough and sound. We’re delighted to have 2 mares in foal to him.” – Charlie Vigors, Hillwood Stud
