The NORTHERN DANCER line has proved to be successful cross with both Bahamian Bounty and Cadeaux Genereux so it is not surprising that Pastoral Pursuits is following suit. The speed influence of the DANZIG line has already produced Pastoral Pursuits and his leading performer, Rose Blossom (Gr 3), who is out of an Emarati daughter. With Pastoral Pursuits being out of a Be My Guest line mare the DANEHILL line looks a particularly attractive as it creates a line-breeding to Natalma. Dansili is already dam-sire to the Listed-placed Timothy T while other Danehill lines that look attractive include Exceed and And Excel, Rock Of Gibraltar, Mozart and Danehill Dancer.
Bahamian Bounty has sired a number of stakes horses out of NUREYEV line mares. With Cadeaux Genereux also siring a Gr 1 winner on the cross, daughters from the Polar Falcon (via Pivotal), Stravinsky and Fasliyev strains all create an appealing cross. Speedy daughters of the SADLER’S WELLS line could also suit Pastoral Pursuits as Cadeaux Genereux sired the Gr 1 sprinter May Ball on the cross. Barathea line mares could prove to be interesting as Tobougg’s Listed winner, Sweet Lilly, is from Pastoral Pursuits’ family. Mares from Sadler’s Wells own brother strain, FAIRY KING, is also worth considering as Pastoral Pursuits’ Listed-placed Kakatosi is out of a Turtle Island mare.
Both Bahamian Bounty and Cadeaux Genereux have sired stakes winners out of NIJINSKY line mares. Cadeaux Genereux has sired a Gr 1 winner out of an Alzao mare so mares from the LYPHARD and NIGHT SHIFT line would suit. Breeding back to the HYPERION line is certainly worth considering as it has produced plenty of winners for Bahamian Bounty, via the likes of Efisio, Forzando, Mummy’s Pet and Fayruz. Bahamian Bounty also sired the smart Lady Links (L) to daughter of Electric, a son of BLAKENEY.
The NASRULLAH line has given this sire-line a number of high-class stakes winners. Via the NEVER BEND branch Hugs Dancer (Gr 3), Paradise Isle (L) and Berk The Jerk (L) have all been bred on the cross so trying mares via both the Shirley Heights and Riverman strains could prove exciting. The BLUSHING GROOM branch, via Rainbow Quest and Pursuit Of Love have produced stakes winners for Bahamian Bounty so it might also be worth trying Rahy and Nashwan line daughters.
Pastoral Pursuits’ talented Auld Burns is out of a daughter of Anshan a son of Persian Bold, who is also the dam-sire of Bahaman Bounty’s Coconut Squeak (L). With this it is certainly worth considering breeding to the BOLD RULER branch of the Nasrullah line. Mares from the Big Shuffle and Seattle Slew (via Septieme Ciel) and AP Indy, will suit well. PETONG line mares, such as daughters of Paris House, also appeal.
MR PROSPECTOR’s son Machiavellian is not only the dam-sire of Pastoral Pursuits’ Angel’s Pursuit (L), but also Bahamian Bounty’s Babadana (L). With Machiavellian’s son, Vettori the dam-sire to Cadeaux Genereux’s Gr 3 winner Bal De La Rose’ it is certainly worth trying daughters of the Machiavellian line. Cadeaux Genereux has also sired graded stakes winners to daughters of Woodman and Midyan (a son of Miswaki) so it is certainly worth trying mares from the strains of both Kingmambo and Gone West, whose own-brother, Lion Cavern, is the broodmare-sire of Pastoral Pursuits’ useful Pastoral Player.
The AHONOORA line, via both Inchinor and Indian Ridge, also creates a proven cross. Pastoral Pursuits’ smart Sagramor is out of a daughter of Definite Article while Bahamian Bounty has sired Mr Napper Tandy (Gr 2) from an Inchinor daughter.
The DANTE sire-line, via Derring-Do, has also proved to work well with both Pastoral Pursuits’ and Bahamian Bounty. Pastoral Pursuits’ Terra di Tuffi (L) is out of a daughter of Daring March while Bahamian Bounty’s Fareer (L) is out of a Dominion mare.
