Purple patch for BAHAMIAN BOUNTY continues

BAHAMIAN BOUNTY has been enjoying a run of exceptional form with his progeny, especially with his 2 year olds; he sired the winners of 3 juvenile races on 3 consecutive days over the course of the weekend – and all of them were 2 year olds!  This is the latest fantastic piece of form from the son of champion sprinter CADEAUX GENEREUX in 2012 after topping the list of European 2 year olds earlier in the month and siring Gr.2 winning juvenile filly SENDMYLOVETOROSE and Listed winners BAILEYS JUBILEE and CAY VERDE.

Friday 10th August saw KALICAMIX (Heather Mix), bred by Whatton Manor Stud and trained by Paul Cole win the Prix d’Auqrainville for 2 year old colts and geldings.  Olivier Peslier rode him to a ½ length victory over 8 rivals including a son of Holy Roman Emperor.

August 11th was an all action Saturday as BAHAMIAN BOUNTY’S son BARRACUDA BOY sailed home to a 1 ¼ length victory at Haydock.  The 2 year old colt out of Madam Boulangere (Royal Applause) has raced 5 times this year for trainer Tom Dascombe and has only been out of the top 5 on one occasion.  His latest win came less than a month after his win at Bath when he beat 8 others including the 5/2 favourite, OPT OUT.  His Haydock win saw him beat the Richard Hannon trained THE TAJ who was a winner on debut in June and the 4/1 favourite NORMAL EQUILIBRIUM trained by Roger Varian.

Next it was the turn of SPECIAL REWARD (Nellie Gwyn), owned by Guy Heald and bred by GB Bloodstock Ltd.  The previously unraced filly, trained by H-A Pantall managed a ½ win over her rivals in the Prix De La Motte Sassy over 6 ½ furlongs at Deuville on Saturday 12th August.

BAHAMIAN BOUNTY’S success continued through his son PASTORAL PURSUITS, who also enjoyed a successful weekend with his progeny.

2 year old SCENTPASTPARADISE (Centenerola) won a nail biter at Redcar on Saturday by a short head from the Tim Easterby trained TEAM CHALLENGE and the 2/1 favourite DIGGORY DELVET.

Although the Nursery was thought to be of modest form, the Racing Post analysis commented:
“SCENTPASTPARADISE comfortably made all in a Beverley maiden 11 days previously and she followed up on this nursery debut in brave fashion. She looked to have started in this sphere on a tricky mark, but she clearly improved for the extra furlong and, despite a likely rise, a bold bid for the hat-trick should be expected while she´s in such form.” www.racingpost.com

Ann Duffield who trains the filly thinks the next possible target will be the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes (Sales Race) at York’s EBOR Meeting.

Finally, PASTORAL PURSUIT’S older horse SAGRAMOR (Jasmick) again showed his mettle on Saturday; this time running a close second to French Gr.3 winner DON BOSCO at Deauville for trainer Hughie Morrison and jockey Darryl Holland in the Gr.3 Prix Gontaut-Biron-Hong Kong Jockey Club.  This performance comes after a sterling run behind CARLTON HOUSE in the Gr.3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown at the end of May.

BAHAMIAN BOUNTY has enjoyed a particularly successful season with his 2 year olds this year and was recently featured as “Stallion of the Month” in the European Bloodstock News (EBN) – to see the article, click here.
