THE JOCKEY CLUB has purchased multiple Group winner and Royal Ascot hero Time Test from Prince Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms. The son of Dubawi will begin stud duties at The National Stud in Newmarket next season where he will stand for a fee of £8,500. Breeding rights will also be available.
The move for the former Roger Charlton trained colt represents an exciting new chapter for The National Stud. Winner twice at Group 2 level including the Joel Stakes over a mile and of two other Group 3 contests, the colt was also Group 1 placed on four occasions including in the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
Also a winner at two, Time Test will be best remembered for his demolition job in the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot, which also saw him break the previous race record time by 1.25 seconds. By top stallion Dubawi, he is out of the late Sir Henry Cecil’s Group 1 winning mare Passage Of Time, who hails from a family of greats like Twice Over and All At Sea.
Ben Sangster, Chairman of The National Stud, said yesterday: “This is a great moment and we are delighted that we have secured this exceptionally good looking son of the great Dubawi. The acquisition also represents the continued and much valued support of The Jockey Club for which we are extremely grateful.”
“He offers breeders a unique opportunity to breed to a son of Dubawi that had precocity, speed and soundness. From a great, proven Juddmonte family, he has all the right attributes to make a top class stallion.”
Time Test’s trainer Roger Charlton added: “Time Test blew away the opposition at Royal Ascot as a three-year-old when he looked like a Group 1 horse. Speed and acceleration were his main assets and I’m convinced he would have won Group 1 races had ground conditions been in his favour.”
