The December Sales is The National Stud's showcase to the industry; during these busy two weeks we consign yearlings, foals and mares at Tattersalls and show breeders our four Gr.1 winning stallions. Each year the quality of our consignement improves and the prices we obtain for our clients increase.
This year our December sale started with a bang when we sold a Duke of Marmalade colt out of the mare Liscune (King's Best) for 80,000gns for trainer Roger Varian. Our foals also sold well and when the last of our draft went through the ring at 8.30pm last night, we knew the long days and hard work had paid off. Of the four foals offered on the day, three were sold and our average for the day was 39,333gns. The top selling foal from The National Stud was a strong, impressive colt (pictured) by first season sire Champs Elysees out of the mare Heart Stopping (Chester House) which sold or 55,000gns to Redwall Bloodstock. A Myboycharlie colt out of Time Will Show (Exit To Nowhere) also sold well for 43,000gns to Manister House Stud - a return of nearly 8 times the sire's nomination fee.
