Foaling for the 2017 season is officially over, the last mare to foal produced a Dark Angel colt in the early hours of this morning.

The Stud’s own mares have given us three colts and a filly this year.

Deire Na Sli is a Listed placed daughter of Aussie Rules, and hails from the family of The Grey Gatsby.  She gave the Stud its first foal of 2017, and produced a beautiful Toronado colt on the 23rd of February.  With Toronado’s first crop doing so well at the sales in 2016 we have high hopes for him.

Inner Sea was the second of our mares to foal this season.  Her Roderic O’Connor colt arrived on the 25th of March and he is another great looking colt.  Inner Sea’s two previous foals to date have sold very well for the Stud; her yearling colt by Havana Gold made 60,000gns at Tattersalls October Sale in 2016, and her Toronado colt foal brought 30,000gns in the December Foal Sale.

Premiere Dance is the latest of our own to foal, she produced a very nice colt by Roderic O’Connor on the 9th of April.  She has been owned by the Stud since 2006, and this will be her last foal for us.  She is now looking forward to a happy retirement.

Finally Rainbow’s Edge, who is a relatively new mare for us, had a lovely filly by Toronado on the 12th of May.  We sold a full sister to this filly at the December foal sales in 2016, which Rathasker Stud bought for 34,000gns.  Rainbow’s Edge herself is a winning half-sister to Free Agent, out of the Listed winning mare Film Script.

Now with foaling season over for another year our foaling crew can get some well earned rest!
