Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has now named his 2 year old colt by BAHAMIAN BOUNTY out of AMAZON BEAUTY (Wolfhound).  It is thought that he originally wanted to call him OCEANS SEVEN but that the name was already taken so he has now settled on SWITCHAROONEY.

We have recently introduced a new stallion matching service to our website to help breeders decide which of our stallions best suits their mare. The system is popular in the USA and is used by some of the top Stallion studs in Europe including Coolmore.

The first foal of the season is always a milestone for the Stud.  This year the first arrival was a good looking, strong bay colt by Juddmonte stallion Oasis Dream out of the mare PRIMA LUCE (Galileo).  The mare was due on 16th January and the foal appeared right on time. The colt is enjoying daily turnout with his dam and mare and foal are doing very well.

Two of The National Stud's Gr.1 winning stallions will be parading at the TBA Stallion Parade at Tattersalls on Thursday 2nd February 2012. Dual Classic winner Cockney Rebel and dual Gr.1 winner Dick Turpin will join 13 other horses in the parade.

The Tattersalls December Foal Sales have proved a lucrative event so far for vendors of Bahamian Bounty's 2011 foal crop.  Three foals selling  on 24/11/11 sold for between 35,000 and 53,000gns with the top price being achieved by a Bay Colt out of the mare FIFTY (Fasliyev).

Redevelopment costing over £1.1million has started at Newmarket’s National Stud to improve student accommodation. Funded by the Wavertree Charitable Trust, Childwick Trust, a private individual and the stud itself, the new hostel will open in January 2011.
