Val Royal recovering well after operation
Breeders' Cup Mile winner and World Champion Miler, Val Royal, is recuperating at The National Stud following surgery for colic.
Val Royal was operated on at Greenwood Ellis & Partners in Newmarket on Monday 11 February 2008 following an acute onset of colic. The surgery was successful and Val Royal was able to return to The National Stud on Tuesday 12 February. The horse is recovering well and is expected to resume covering duties during April 2008.
During 2007 Val Royal was responsible for two Group/Grade 1 performers from his first crop: English and Irish 2000 Guineas winner Cockney Rebel and Grade 2-winning, dual Grade 1-placed filly Valbenny.
