18/03/2005 : Potential boost for National Stud's charitable objectives

Following the statement on the future of the Levy Board, issued on 18th March by the Rt. Hon Richard Caborn, Minister for Sport and Tourism, The National Stud has expressed its pleasure with the contents, particularly in respect of the recommended completion of the previously budgeted grant to the Stud.

11/02/2005 : Bollin Eric sires Royal male

National Stud stallion, Bollin Eric, has sired his first foal. A bay colt, out of Lunabelle was born at the Royal Stud, Sandringham, on 9th February.

The National Stud is delighted to announce two new appointments, aimed at ensuring the continuation of quality training provision following Caroline Turnbull's transfer to the TBA.

04/02/2005 : New arrival for Never Say Die Club

Members of the National Stud's new owner/breeders' club, the Never Say Die Club, enjoyed an exciting day in Newmarket on Thursday. Over 150 members and their guests started their day at Tattersalls where they watched the Stallion Parade. This included appearances by National Stud stallions Deportivo, Desert Sun, Passing Glance and Helissio.

05/01/2005 : Fiona Birt-Llewellin to Join National Stud Board

Fiona Birt-Llewellin has been appointed to the Board of the National Stud, Newmarket as a non-executive director. This appointment has received the formal approval of the Horserace Betting Levy Board, who are highly supportive of the move.

03/01/2005 : National Stud in Hot Pursuit of Quality

The National Stud has announced the latest addition to their rapidly increasing roster of quality stallions. Following closely on from their recent acquisition of the services of Deportivo, Passing Glance and Desert Sun for 2005, the Stud has now confirmed an agreement to purchase Pastoral Pursuits.

08/12/2004 : Desert Sun to stand at The National Stud

The National Stud is delighted to announce their agreement with Desert Sun's owner, Lee Fleming, to stand this successful son of Green Desert at The National Stud for the 2005 and 2006 Northern Hemisphere seasons.

22/11/2004 : National Stud Raceday Draws Crowds at Fakenham.

The inaugural National Stud Raceday held at Fakenham on Sunday 21st November was judged to be a great success.

02/10/2004 : National Stud stallion Bollin Eric to stand at Wood Farm Stud

The National Stud is delighted to announce a partnership agreement between the Stud and Bill Bromley, to stand Bollin Eric at his high-profile National Hunt stallion station, Wood Farm Stud, for the 2005 season.

21/09/2004 : Deportivo - latest acquisition for National Stud

The National Stud in Newmarket is certainly fulfilling its aim to increase its range of stallions, having just announced the purchase of Deportivo from Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte operation. According to Teddie Grimthorpe, "he is a tough, speedy and charming horse who carried his speed through his two- and three-year-old campaigns".

The National Stud has purchased a major share in Passing Glance, winner of 7 races, including the Darley Oettingen-Rennen (Gr.2) over 8f, the Vodafone Diomed Stakes (Gr.3) over 8.5f and the Sovereign Stakes (Listed) over 8f.

There were celebrations at The National Stud over the first mare to be scanned in foal to Bollin Eric, not least because the mare concerned was Lunabelle, bred and owned by Her Majesty The Queen.
