Foaling

Printer friendly page
The Foaling Unit The Foaling Unit, manned 24 hours a day, has 20 purpose designed stables, each equipped with heat lamps and CCTV. The Unit foals in excess of 100 mares each season. Every newborn foal is weighed, photographed and its development monitored. Owners can rest easy in the knowledge that their mares and foals are in expert hands. Extra peace of mind for owners comes in the shape of a dedicated full time staff living on site and backup from the two leading veterinary practices merely two miles away.

Vet Scheme

For a fixed fee split into two instalments, the standard vet scheme covers all routine veterinary work on mare and foal whilst boarding at The National Stud for the breeding season. All work carried out within the Scheme is undertaken by Greenwood Ellis veterinary surgeons. Partner, Huw Neal heads the veterinary team responsible for The National Stud.

A foal "We have always had the greatest confidence in The National Stud's facilities and professional care of our bloodstock. In fact Bollin Eric was not only conceived but also foaled at the Stud and spent the first few months of his life in their expert care. It is fitting, therefore, that he is now standing as a National Stud stallion."
