2010 National Stud Diploma Graduates
Twenty-three students have graduated after successfully completing the National Stud’s 2010 Diploma Course, which combines thoroughbred stud practical experience with lectures and visits.
Irishman, John Peppard, from County Clare won the top award, the Tim Dunlop Memorial Award - presented each year to the student who demonstrates outstanding performance in all aspects of the course. Four other high achievers were awarded additional prizes.
John was delighted saying: "Having had little practical experience I found The Diploma Course was extremely worthwhile and a great experience."
The National Stud's Certificate of Merit went to Alexandra Macholdt, 19, from Berlin, Germany. Fiona Lambert, 25, from Dublin, Ireland was the recipient of the award for Most Improved Diploma Student, while John McConnell, 23, also from Ireland received the award for Best Practical Diploma Student.
Tabbi Smith, Training Director of the National Stud, said: "2010 has been an outstanding year in terms of the Diploma Students. This year’s graduates have been a pleasure to have on-site for 5-months, they have worked incredibly hard both practically and academically. What really makes the Stud’s team proud is that the industry recognises the graduate’s worth and the vast majority start international or UK jobs in the next few weeks".
